About Us
Meet Aslin, Designer and Founder
My interest in jewellery started from a young age. As a kid, I would watch my grandfather work at home, setting diamonds for 10 or more hours a day. Seeing the stones, his workbench, and the craft of handling diamonds had always sparked my curiosity.
As a teen, instead of spending my weekends at the mall or with friends, I worked with my parents at the Jewellry Exchange store. The store was located in the heart of Toronto, right at the corner of Yonge and Queen Street, but has since been demolished and replaced with chain clothing brands. However eventually, I had to build a career path for myself after I graduated High School. So, I decided to venture off into business.
Overtime, I continued working in a business-related field that never felt quite fulfilling. I realized it was because I did not have a passion for my work; I was wasting my time while the work was also taking away from my needs of and time spent with my children. After 20 years of working in a field and at a job, that I did not feel I was excelling in, yet was secure, I decided to take a leap of faith and quit with a dream to start something new.
Coming from four generations of jewellers, it felt only natural to finally find my place in the industry. It was time I returned to my roots, and in 2018, Lu&Lo was born.
Meet the Owner
If we haven't met yet, I'm Aslin—pronounced Usleen, but most people call me Azlyn or Azzy. I'm the maker behind Lu&Lo Jewellery, born into a family of jewellers.
As a child, I spent countless hours watching my grandfather set diamonds in his basement studio. Though I was never allowed to touch anything, seeing those beautiful stones always sparked my curiosity.
Years have gone by, and I took a different path, working a secure corporate job in HR for Canada’s biggest television company. It was a great job, but deep down, it never felt right. So, before the pandemic, I decided to take a leap of faith and start my own jewellery line. Of course, it hasn't been easy, but it was the best decision I’ve ever made.
